Sony has assured consumers not to anticipate an early price cut for the PlayStation Vita suggesting the company does not wish to follow Nintendo’s example.
Nintendo recently chopped the price of its floundering handheld the Nintendo 3DS by almost a third in most major markets.
The move, it seems, hasn’t shaken Sony who insist that Vita’s price point is justified.
“We packed so much into the device and made it very affordable,” Hirai told reporters at Sony’s Tokyo headquarters. “There is no need to lower the price just because somebody else that happens to be in the video game business decided that they were going to lower their price.”
Sony has confirmed that PlayStation Vita will launch in Europe in early 2012
