Only last week Nintendo spilled the beans on their 3DS, but over the coming days it is believed Sony will finally unveil the PSP2 for the first time.
The much discussed announcement will allegedly take place during a media conference dubbed ‘PlayStation Meeting 2011′, which a host of different press outlets have been invited too. The event is scheduled to begin Thursday, January 27th at 6.00am GMT.
The existence of a successor to the PSP has been known for a while, thanks to developer chatter and hardware pictures surfacing on the internet, but if the nature of this conference comes to pass, this will be the first public-wide confirmation.
The briefing was revealed by Nikkei and was subsequently translated by Andriasang.
Due to the ambiguous nature of this event’s title, it is understood that there will be announcements associated with the PlayStation 3 as well.
We’ll keep you updated with more news regarding the PSP2, even if we have to get up very early in the morning to do so.
