The existence of Resistance 3 has apparently been outed by a billboard spotted on the film set of upcoming action flick Battle: Los Angeles, which is currently filming in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The billboard, which was snapped by a member of popular video game forum NeoGAF, shows the Resistance 3 logo which features an image of The Statue of Liberty and The Empire State Building, hinting that the game will be set in New York. That's if the snap's real, of course.
Battle: Los Angeles is a film due for release in February 2011, starring The Dark Knight's Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez, best known for her role as Letty in The Fast & The Furious. According to the film's IMDB profile, the plot follows "a Marine platoon who faces off against an alien invasion in Los Angeles." A bit like Resistance, then.

Resistance 2 launched on PlayStation 3 in November of last year, two years after Fall of Man's original North American release. If Resistance 3 was to follow a similar timeline of development, we'd expect it to hit in the run up to Christmas 2010.
The critically-acclaimed series follows Army Ranger Nathan Hale as he goes to war against the Chimera, an alien race that has invaded Earth shortly after World War II.
Neither Sony nor developer Insomniac had commented at the time of writing.
