PixelJunk Shooter will be on PSN worldwide next Thursday according to Q-Games main man, Dylan Cuthburt. No price currently, but hopefully less than a tenner.

PixelJunk Shooter is the 4th title in Q-Games PixelJunk series of downloadable PlayStation 3 exclusive games. On the face of it, PixelJunk Shooter is another variant of the classic 8-bit computer game, Thrust. You control a small craft using your thruster to navigate a 2D environment whilst struggling against both momentum and gravity. The point of the game is to rescue survivors that are scattered about waving you in. The danger is confounded by the creatures that you come across in the caverns, but then you do have a gun to take these out.

None of that though is the real draw of the game, which revolves about the water and the lava that pool in the caverns. It is here where the real fun of the game is revealed as you manipulate both of these liquids to open up new areas and rescue more guys. Water cools the lava allowing you to destroy it or if you drop small amounts of lava into water it will evaporate the it to steam. You can adventure alone or with a co-op buddy.

It's presented in full 1080P and the fluid physics looks really good, making it one to look forward to.
