New IPs from Insomniac on the way

Thinking that Resistance will be the last new IP from Insomniac "would be silly", says Insomniac.

Insomniac Games has said that it "would be silly" to think that Resistance would be the developer's last new IP, revealing that the Burbank-based studio will be developing new IPs "at some point in the future".

Speaking in a candid interview with GamerZines last week, Insomniac Games' Senior Community Manager James Stevenson said:

"We don't really want to talk about anything outside of A Crack In Time, but what I will say in general is that, if you think that Resistance is going to be the last new IP from Insomniac obviously that would be a silly thought.

"At some point in the future there will be new IPs, but when, where, why, how, you know, who knows?"

Well, you would probably know best, James.

Insomniac Games are best known for their work on the Ratchet & Clank and Resistance series of games, but have previously developed Spyro The Dragon and Disruptor.

"We always evaluate these things and you're seeing a growing trend of co-op in games.

"If you look at Resistance 2, our co-op numbers were higher than our competitive numbers. It's definitely a growing sector of the industry and regardless of what games Insomniac make in the future - because we will make many more games and I'm not going to talk about what they'll be - I think co-op is something that we will recognise the growing importance of."

He's still surprised by a certain game's use of co-op, though:

"If I ever thought Resident Evil would be a co-op game... well, it still kind of surprises me that Resident Evil is a co-op game."

You're not alone there, James.

Insomniac's next game Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time launches exclusively on PlayStation 3 on November 6th. But put away your pads co-op-loving gamers; it's a single-player only affair.
