Curve Studios have today announced that they are to bring their own self-published title, Explodemon!, to PlayStation Network later this year.

When the peaceful planet of Nibia becomes victim of an attack by the malicious Vortex forces, the fate of the star system is thrust into the hands of malfunctioning Guardian robot Explodemon.

Players are invited to guide him in repelling his enemies and returning peace to the system. Such a mission will take him across three distinct planets over twelve levels, during which you'll learn new abilities and additional gameplay mechanics throughout.

Having been inspired by the classic Japanese titles from the SNES golden age, Explodemon! is a 2.5D platform-action game that is crafted to suit the HD era.

Players will be tasked with utilising Explodemon's self-destructive nature to tackle enemies and propel themselves through the air, as they navigate their way through a number of physics-based puzzles.

"We're really excited to finally be able to reveal Explodemon! to the world," comments design director Jonathan Biddle. "The game is chock full of gameplay nuggets carefully mined from the greatest titles ever to grace our joysticks. Whether you're experiencing its intense combat, head-scratching puzzles, or classic platforming, you'll find we've combined all of these elements into an addictive and elegantly balanced package."

Explodemon! is due to release on PlayStation Network later this year.
