Dante's Inferno will be expanded via downloadable content to include an online multiplayer component and custom content creator, GamerZines can reveal.
The DLC, titled 'Trials of St. Lucia', is due to hit Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network on April 29th and will include a new two-player online co-op arena-based multiplayer mode that sees players take on waves of enemies in a Horde-alike wave mode.
But rather than just being provided with a set of pre-designed trials to complete, Trials of St. Lucia will allow players to custom create their own trials, with players able to pick from existing enemies and DLC-exclusives ones like the 'Summoner' when designing their waves.
Each trial will also exist in an online database similar to that of LittleBigPlanet, allowing players to download other player's challenges and get themselves rated on an online leaderboad. Will you be the best?
Players can choose to play as either Dante or St. Lucia, a thirteenth century martyr and Dante's guardian angel who's had her eyes plucked out, or can choose to play together via online co-op.

"We're really excited to bring multiplayer to Dante's Inferno," said Jonathan Knight, Executive Producer of Dante's Inferno.
"You're going to be able to play online with your friends and defeat waves of enemies, but the coolest thing is putting the power of the combat editor into the hands of players.
"There's this big meta ranking system to find out who's the best of the best at designing great challenges."
A price for Trials of St. Lucia is still to be announced.
Dante's Inferno launches on Xbox 360 and PS3 across the UK this Friday, 5th February.
