India-based developer GameShastra is set to be the first company from the country to expand its reach worldwide by developing the first Indian game for the PlayStation 3.
GameShastra is currently one of Sony's development partners in India and the largest studio in the country. This new deal, signed with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, will see a range of its products launch world-wide.
The first game from the studio will be Desi Adda, a range of mini games that includes traditional Indian games such as Goat & the tiger, Kite Fight and Kabaddi.
GamaShatra has also confirmed that it is working on its first PS3 title, Eklavya, based on the high profile Bollywood film that was nominated in the Best Foreign Film category at the Oscars in 2007.
The Mumbai-based Hindi-language film industry is huge not only in India but worldwide. The relationship with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe paves the way for further big Bollywood titles to receive the video game treatment.
