Argos has decided to follow Asda and Tesco's lead and enter the second hand games market, trialling the service in 27 of its stores.
Customers can trade-in selected Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS games in any one of the stores trialling the service to receive credit. The credit can then be used against any item within the retailer's catalogue.
"Argos can confirm it is trialling a trade-in service for video games in a few stores in the North East region commencing in March 2010," an Argos spokesperson told MCV.
"Customers participating in the trial will receive the trade-in value in Argos gift vouchers giving the customers the choice to purchase any of the 18,000-plus products we sell."
The length of the trial period is still undecided, added the retailer, and the firm will make the decision whether to expand the service into other stores once the trial period has concluded.
A list of accepted titles for trade-in can be found on the retailers website at argos.co.uk, along with a list of trade-in values.
