3DTV gaming is the future, suggests Ubisoft, but UK is six months behind everyone else.

Ubisoft has said that the 3D mode included in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of its upcoming Avatar game "has to be seen to be believed" and that it "will change (the) industry forever."

Discussing the game with MCV, which is based on James Cameron's upcoming sci-fi epic of the same name, Ubisoft brand manager Phil Brannelly said:

"In the USA and Japan, 3DTVs are now readily available, so the game is ready for that market.

It has to be seen to be believed and, like the film, will change its industry forever."

The 3D mode, which we had a brief look at at last month's Eurogamer Expo, works similarly to the technology seen in 3D films, and as Brannelly implies, certainly enhances the experience somewhat.

But if you don't have a 3DTV, don't panic - the game's still playable on a standard television.

James Cameron's Avatar launches on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP, PC on December 4th.
