Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PC) - £24.98 - Gameplay.co.uk
What more can we say? Our Game of the Year and our favourite PS3 game of all time, Drake's second adventure is - as they say in the biz - even bigger, better and more badass than the mighty Drake's Fortune. With three modes of play, including a spectacular campaign, great competitive multiplayer and a decent co-op offering, Uncharted 2 deserves a place in everyone's collection.
Dead Space: Extraction (Wii) - £14.98 - Gameplay.co.uk
In space, no one can hear you scream. And on Earth, no one bought this latest horror epic. Switching third-person shooting/survival horror for first-person lightgun shooting/survival may have been a brave, and somewhat fruitless move for the series, but the switch allowed for a more controlled, cinematic take on Dead Space's deep space action, leading to some incredibly intense scenarios aboard the Ishimura. A great game at a great price.
A Boy And His Blob (Wii) - £14.99 - Play.com
If you're a fan of side-scrolling platform games, you need A Boy And His Blob. It's as simple as that. Playing, quite literally, as a boy and his blob, you're tasked with navigating a variety of fantastically drawn environments and manipulating the blob into various shapes, items and vehicles in order to solve puzzles.
Street Fighter IV Collector's Edition (360) - £10.98 - Gameplay.co.uk
Let's face it. The contents of Street Fighter IV's Collector's Edition were rubbish, so it's a good job the game more than made up for any of the CE's misgivings. Probably the best fighter we've ever played, pick this up and show Granny who's boss.
FEAR 2: Project Origin (360) - £5.98 - Gameplay.co.uk
With little Johnny playing with his train set in the living room and Uncle Arthur asleep in the armchair, Christmas may not be the best time to play this fright-fest, but regardless, picking this spooky shooter up at this ridiculous pocket money pirce is a no-brainer.
Ninja Blade (360) - £6.98 - Gameplay.co.uk
It's certainly not as good as Ninja Gaiden 2, but Ninja Blade's still good fun, especially if you enjoy spiking snails with sharp sticks while riding rockets as if they were surfboards. One word of warning, though: if you do pick it up, make sure you're able to dedicate more than half hour sittings. Levels can last for upwards of an hour, with no mid-level save points in sight.
Halo Wars (360) - £9.98 - Gameplay.co.uk
The best console RTS you'll likely ever play, Halo Wars completely redefined the way to play a game in the genre with a control pad. With a fantastic control setup and a fine campaign based on the mighty Halo franchise, this one's a worthy addition to any tactical thinkers.
