Publisher announces big plans for Cologne event.
European publisher Ubisoft has announced it will be holding a press conference prior to Cologne expo Gamescom opens to the public.
Ubisoft will use the conference to announce new free-to-play titles, some set in the universes of company’s popular franchises.
The publisher will also be outlining to expand into e-sports and other growing online game genres.
“The total number of players and the resulting opportunities for our industry continue to multiply as new types of gaming take hold,” said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.
“After a successful E3, we’re looking forward to bringing a strong lineup to Gamescom so that customers can experience many of our hotly anticipated titles first hand.”
The press conference will be broadcast on Ubisoft’s YouTube Channel.
Ubisoft will be bringing playable demos of Assassin’s Creed 3, Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation, Far Cry 3, Ghost Recon Online, and ShootMania: Storm to the German show including a handful of Wii U titles.
An extended demo of Splinter Cell: Blacklist will be watchable and demonstrations of Just Dance 4, the Hip Hop Dance Experience, and The Settlers Online will be on show at the Ubisoft booth.
The Op3n ShootMania Gamescom 2012 tournament will take place in the Electronic Sports League booth and will be broadcast from the Ubisoft booth on August 17th.
Guitar trainer Rocksmith will also make an appearance of the Cologne Pop Festival.
Gamescom kicks off August 15th until the 19th
