EA announces new content for their survival horror sequel, the day it hits stores in North America.
Despite not being out until this Friday in the UK, Electronic Arts has announced that Dead Space 3′s first DLC pack, titled ‘Awakened’.
“In Dead Space 3 Awakened, gamers will experience some of the most disturbing content they have ever seen in a Dead Space game,” revealed Steve Papoutsis, boss of Dead Space 3 developer, Visceral Games. “They are going to love it.”
EA are currently touting this content as the “darkest chapters” in the franchise’s history, which makes you wonder why they were left out of the regular retail edition of Dead Space 3 in the first place.
Many critics have lambested Dead Space 3 for its more action-orientated approach, rather than incorporating the deliberate horror sequences which punctuated the previous games. If the Awakened content is a bundle of all these terrifying moments together then we suspect a lot of long-standing fans of the Dead Space series won’t be too happy.
The Awakened DLC is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this March and will be priced at 800 Microsoft Points and $9.99 respectively.
