New hardware and FIFA contribute to sales spike.
Sales of Sony’s PlayStation 3 have rocketed 138 percent in the UK with the arrival of the revised PS3 hardware known as the ‘PS3 Super Slim‘.
Chart Tracker data revealed sales of the Sony console are up 138 percent over the previous week with the 500 GB ‘Super Slim’ PS3 accounting for 37 percent of PS3′s sold that week.
It’s likely that the launch of FIFA 13, which has sold over one million copies, as well as the PS3 Super Slim FIFA 13 bundle has contributed to this spike in PS3 sales.
Sony will launch a second SKU of the PS3 Super Slim which features 12GB of flash memory on October 12th.
