Game’s creator collaborating with Polish developer.
Witcher developer CD Projekt RED has announced its next major game will be Cyberpunk, an RPG based on the pen and paper game of the same name.
Like The Witcher, CD Projekt is aiming for “a mature RPG for a mature audience” promising a non-linear story, “advanced RPG mechanics”, a variety of character classes, and a “gigantic arsenal”.
Creator of the original game Mike Pondsmith will be involved in the videogame adaption’s development with hopes of delivering a quality product to Cyberpunk’s 5 million players.
Pondsmith explained that CD Projekt RED’s success with The Witcher series made them a perfect fit for the game.
“CD Projekt Red is the team we’ve been hoping for,” said Pondsmith.
“Their incredible work on The Witcher and The Witcher 2 shows that they share the same dedication and love of great games that we do at Talsorian.”
“I’m especially stoked that they want our participation in making this game a fantastic project that will live up to everything Cyberpunk fans (old and new) have been waiting for. Trust me – this game is going to rock.”
No other details such as which platforms Cyberpunk will be developed for has been released at this time.
