City Interactive has announced Enemy Front, a first-person WWII shooter headed up by Bodycount’s ex-creative director Stuart Black, and described by the publisher as “Inglorious Basterds meets the Dirty Dozen”.
Spanning across several years and featuring key battles from WWII, Enemy Front pits players in the role of an allied soldier dropped deep behind enemy lines, and sent on a mission to thwart the Nazis’ plans of developing a terrifying top secret weapon.
The game is being built on Crytek’s CryEngine 3, which, according to City Interactive, “brings the game’s authentic settings and the bleak landscapes of war-torn Europe to vivid life.”
Environmental damage will also allow for “diverse, fully destructible maps that reflect the damage from every bullet fired and every grenade tossed”. Sounds a bit like a WWII Bodycount to us…
Black was part of the creative team behind Criterion’s critically-acclaimed FPS Black, before movingto Codemasters to head up work on dismal shooter Bodycount. He famously walked from the project months prior to release.
Enemy Front launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in 2012. You can check out the first screens from the game below.
