Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 Details

Published on June 7th, 2011

City Interactive has released the first details and screenshots of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2, revealing that the sequel to last year’s surprise hit will introduce vehicle sections, limb dismemberment and varied locations, before hinting at the possibility of co-op play.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 will include new ballistics physics that take into account the player’s location, wind speed and direction, breathing rate and distance from the target, as well as night vision and thermo vision goggles to use in limited visibility situations.

Players will once again play as Captain Cody Anderson, now an ex-Delta Force Sniper, and will feature an "epic story crafted by acclaimed writers". The game will be built on CryEngine 3, the engine built by Crytek to power Crysis 2.

A co-operative mode is also hinted at, although it’s not been made totally clear whether such a mode will feature or not.

The fact sheet says that "Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 takes all the breathless anticipation, precise controls and skillful fun of sniping and mixes it with stealth and silent elimination play, action scenes, a co-operative move playbook," and that "working with your spotter is key," but stops short of confirming a multiplayer co-op option.

Though the original Sniper: Ghost Warrior reviewed poorly, the game was a surprise hit with consumers when it launched last June, going on to shift over a million units.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in Q1 2012. You can check out the first shots of the game below.
