THQ has finally lifted the lid on Saints Row: The Third, the next game in the top open world crime series due for release this ‘holiday’.
The game, which is currently in development alongside Red Faction: Armageddon at Volition, puts players "on top of the world", according to THQ Exec Danny Bilson. "There’s no delivering pizza, no shuttling family members about in a long series of taxi missions. Instead, you take all the power of the Third Street Saints and you take the world by storm."
"Years after taking Stilwater for their own, the Third Street Saints have evolved from street gang to household brand name, with Saints sneakers, Saints energy drinks and Johnny Gat bobble head dolls all available at a store near you.
"The Saints are kings of Stilwater, but their celebrity status has not gone unnoticed. The Syndicate, a legendary criminal fraternity with pawns in play all over the globe, has turned its eye on the Saints and demands tribute. Refusing to kneel to the Syndicate, you take the fight to a new city, playing out the most outlandish gameplay scenarios ever seen. Strap it on."
A new city? Count us in.
According to the press release, more details are to be unveiled in next month’s issue of Game Informer.
The last Saints Row game, Saints Row 2, launched in October 2008. It’s said to have said around 3.5 million copies. A 3DS Saints Row game is also in development.
Saints Row: The Third will release this holiday on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
