As part of the mandatory update, all PS3 users must change their PSN and Quriocity passwords when logging in as part of the service’s new security upgrade.
Features available in the first step of the service’s restoration include online gameplay, playback rental video content of existing rentals , Q Music Unlimited for current subscribers, access to Friends including Chat functionality, Trophy comparison, and PlayStation Home.
Services including the PlayStation Store will be up and running again in the coming weeks.
Sony will be offering a ‘Welcome Back Package’ soon which will include a month’s free subscription to PlayStation Plus and access to two free games from a choice of five (to be detailed in the coming days).
PSN went down in mid-April following an intrusion from an outside source. Sony confirmed that data both personal and financial of million of its members had been compromised.
