Sony has announced that PlayStation user’s donations have topped 1.587 million USD in support of Japan’s Earthquake Effort.
The scheme set up shortly after the tragic events in March of this year offered special custom themes for PlayStation 3 to those who donated money to support emergency relief and recovered efforts in Japan.
The breakdown of donations on participating territories is:
*North America: 425,644 USD
*Europe/PAL: 609,155 EURO
*ASIA: 2,137,537 YEN
Funds raises to be donated to organizations in each region to support communities effected by the earthquake including:
*American Red Cross – Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Fund for North America
*British Red Cross for Europe
*Central Community Chest of Japan known as the Red Feather Community Chest Movement for Japan and Asia
Sony Computer Entertainment is to continue to support the relief effort.
