Crytek’s Managing Director Avni Yerli has revealed that the studio is “looking to continue Crysis”, and that a new Crysis project may be unveiled “soon”.
Talking to NowGamer, Yerli said that “Crysis as a franchise for us is obviously very important.
“From that perspective we’re looking to continue Crysis somehow. We have not said anything publicly yet, but maybe soon we will make something more public on the Crysis franchise.
“It is a very important franchise for Crytek, however any future plans, we have not revealed yet, but be assured there will be some new things.”
Crysis 2 launched back in March, with two map packs for the game’s multiplayer mode releasing in the months since.
It was rumoured recently that the original Crysis, which has so far only seen a release on PC, may be coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 after ESRB ratings outed the product.
Could this be what Yerli’s referring to, or could Crysis 3 be around the corner too?
It’s probably a safe bet to expect an announcement from Crytek at next month’s GamesCom.
Crysis 2 is out now on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
