Kane Lynch 3 IO Job Ads

Published on September 27th, 2011

Various job listings posted on IO Interactive’s website may have outed the existence of Kane & Lynch 3.

The ads, which were spotted on IO’s website this morning, seek programmers to work on an “unannounced 3rd person game with strong cooperative multiplayer elements”.

Successful candidates should also be able to “identify problems with existing multiplayer unaware technology and propose solutions to such”.

According to one specific ad, the game will also be a “AAA action title”.

So why do we think IO’s unannounced game is Kane & Lynch 3?

Well, other than Mini Ninjas, IO has focussed exclusively on the Kane & Lynch and Hitman franchises exclusively over the last eight years, and much like this upcoming title, Kane & Lynch 2 also featured ‘strong co-operative multiplayer elements’, including campaign co-op and a co-operative multiplayer mode that relied on players using teamwork to complete various objectives.

Alternatively, IO could be working on a sequel to 2003 shooter Freedom Fighters. We know which one we’d rather see…

The ads also suggest that that title will be built using IO’s Glacier 2 engine, the latest version of IO’s in-house engine currently being used to build next year’s Hitman: Absolution.

Despite launching to average reviews, Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days proved popular with consumers, taking the number one spot in the UK charts on its launch week.

A sequel has yet to be announced by Square-Enix.
