FIFA 12 Tops UK Chart

Published on January 4th, 2012

Chart-Track has revealed the UK sales chart for the last week of 2011, crowning FIFA 12 as top title in retail land during the week ending 31st December.

Traditionally the week after Christmas in retail is reserved for some impressive price cuts on certain titles and the biggest number of gift card redemptions, so that explains the success of some of the more surprising entries on this list.

1. FIFA 12
2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
3. Battlefield 3
4. Just Dance 3
5. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations
6. Saints Row: The Third
7. Need for Speed: The Run
8. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
9. Mario Kart 7
10. Forza Motorsport 4

The most notable title missing from this list is Star Wars: The Old Republic which dropped from 10th to an eye-watering 38th position, however this drop isn’t all that it appears. EA have spoken repeatedly about controlling the demand of BioWare’s MMO by restricting the amount of copies which head to retail and, as always, Chart-Track doesn’t take into account digital sales.

Still it isn’t all bad news though, as it’s very encouraging to see fantastic titles like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Saints Row: The Third riding high, despite the fact they were released way back in November.
