Activision has announced Call of Duty XP, a new Call of Duty ‘live-action experience’ set to take place in Los Angeles this September.
Taking place between September 2nd and September 3rd, the convention will transform a 12-acre compound into “the ultimate Call of Duty experience”, combining a live-action show of Call of Duty-themed paintballing and tournaments with the world premiere reveal of Modern Warfare 3′s multiplayer.
The event will let players take part in a real-world version of Modern Warfare 2′s The Pit, compete in paintball battles inside a full-scale recreation of MW2′s Scrapyard map, and eat lunch at Burger Town.
“From the high production values of our live, immersive events – all the way to the smallest details in every design and activity – we’re pulling out all the stops to make Call of Duty XP the ultimate gathering for the global community of Call of Duty fans,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing.
“The celebration will immerse attendees in a Call of Duty experience unlike anything they’ve ever seen before. Over the course of two days, gamers can trade Call of Duty war stories, experience the official unveiling of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer and the full feature functionality of Call of Duty Elite, as well as enjoy world-class entertainment and compete head-to-head for some serious cash prizes.”
Tickets for Call of Duty XP will go on-sale from July 19th and cost $150. All proceeds will go towards The Call of Duty Endowment, a charity established by Activision CEO Bobby Kotick in 2009 to help benefit army veterans.
Hirschberg anticipates approximately 7,000 tickets will go on-sale, but if you can’t make it Activision will be streaming the entire event online through social networks.
