Over 8 million people took part in the Battlefield 3 Open Beta, DICE has revealed.
According to statistics released by Battlefield 3′s developer today, 8,125,310 players played the beta between September 29th and October 10th, shooting 47 billion bullets and destroying 21 million M-COM stations.
Perhaps the most impressive figure, however, is the longest recorded headshot, with one of you managing to make the shot from an impressive 635.6m away. Kudos if that was you.
As Battlefield 3 gears up for launch next week, the huge interest in the beta should come as a good sign for EA.
Analyst firm Cowen & Company expects the full game to shift 11 million units, with pre-order levels reportedly similar to those of last year’s hit Call of Duty: Black Ops.
DICE has previously claimed that the Battlefield 3 beta attracted 6 times as many players as the beta for Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
The beta, however, came under fire from some players claiming it to be too glitchy. DICE promises that the finished game will be significantly improved, with a day one patch also on the way.

Battlefield 3 launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on October 28th.
