PlayStation 3 exclusive The Last of Us will not feature campaign co-op play, Naughty Dog has confirmed.
Those hoping to have a friend take over control of youngster Ellie in order to help take down the game’s multiple form of baddies might be disappointed to hear this but Naughty Dogs’s Neil Druckmann did state that multiplayer would be making the cut instead.
“We are supporting multiplayer with The Last of Us,” said Druckmann.
“We’re not ready to talk about the details of how multiplayer will be implemented, however we can say that it is not co-op within the main campaign.”
Naughty Dog’s previous efforts including Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception both supported stellar multiplayer components.
Though Druckmann says co-op play is a no-go for the game’s main campaign, there’s a chance that a separate co-op campaign, much like the ones seen in Uncharted 2 and 3, might make the cut.
The Last of Us is due out in 2013.
