Less than quarter of Elite members upgrading to Premium.2.3 million gamers subscribed to Call of Duty: Elite Premium

Activision has announced that over 12 million users have registered to – the game’s social network that launched alongside 2011′s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

2.3 million of those users have upped their subscription from paid to Premium, $49.99 annual free that entitles players to a year’s worth of Modern Warfare 3 DLC early among other perks.

This news was confirmed last night by Activision’s CEO Eric Hirshberg during their quarterly investors call.

′s rival service launched in June and accumulated 800,000 subscribers in its first two weeks.
