Highly anticipated game to skip another major gaming event.
Rockstar and its highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V will be passing on Gamescom 2012 is has been confirmed.
The game was hotly tipped to appear at the Cologne event and when a snippet for footage made its way into an official Gamescom trailer, the internet went wild with speculation.
“Rockstar Games is not scheduled and has never been scheduled to exhibit at Gamescom 2012,” said Gamescom project manager Tim Endres.
“We apologise for any confusion this may have caused.”
GTA V has not only passed on Gamescom but a rumoured E3 appearance was also debunked when it failed to surface at the Los Angeles expo.
Not one to ride entirely on the promise of GTAV, communications magager of Koelnmesse, Franko Fischer added: ”Although GTA 5 won’t be at the show, I think we will once again have the most spectacular world premieres set for the events.”
Organisers recently announced that Gamescom 2012 will be home to over 370 exhibitors and around 300 reveals.
