"Good Luck Digital Extremes, we're all counting on you" - okay that's a quote from Airplane, but it's good enough for a caption.
Movie games have a history of raising fan hopes with flashy graphics, recognisable environments and convincing voice acting, but a lot of the time they don’t deliver where it matters; in the actual gameplay department.
Aliens: Colonial Marines is the most recent proof of that trend, but sometimes you get licensed games that completely defy expectations. Games like Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Butcher Bay, Bladerunner or the criminally ignored Tron 2.0 and we really, really, really hope Star Trek: The Game falls into this category with its cool third-person shooter gameplay and lens flare-laden visuals.
The latest trailer will tell you all about this co-op experience at length, and in our opinion Digital Extremes’ work is looking rather special.
Look if any game can make shooting giant lizards look cool, then frankly we’re onboard. Controlling the U.S.S Enterprise during a dramatic battle is simply a bonus at that point. If this trailer has won you over to the point that you want to pre-order Star Trek: The Game, be sure to check out the best prices via PreOrder-IQ.com.
Star Trek will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on Friday, 26th April. Please be good, please be good, please be good….

Looks good for you young-ins – I’m old school Star Trek. I’ll pass on this one – especially the JJ- Adams Star Trek.
Have Fun if you play it. Yes this IS
Romulan Ale and you can’t have any if you like what JJ Adams did to star trek. I still can get this because in MY Star Trek universe the ROMULAN homeworld didn’t Blow Up.
Joe, in the original timeline, the Romulan homeworld blows up. So while you are saying that the new Star Trek isn’t your Star Trek, you then say that the old one isn’t either. What is it that you like about Star Trek, then, if both the old and the new aren’t “your” Star Trek?
