Paragon Lost will be available in the UK on December 28th. Blu-Ray and DVD obviously...

BioWare has released nine minutes worth of preview footage for the forthcoming Mass Effect anime, subtitled ‘Paragon Lost’, and surprisingly it actually doesn’t look too bad.

Ever since Warner Bros. put together the Animatrix to coincide with Matrix Reloaded’s launch, a lot of production companies have fallen over themselves to support big-budget entertainment releases with throwaway anime tie-ins and the quality, as you might expect, hasn’t always been that good.

We’ve had Batman: The Dark Knight, Dead Space: Downfall, Halo: Legends, and numerous other efforts which offer fan service over genuine revelation and is the next in that line.

The new footage focuses on the forces of the Human Alliance fighting off a ragtag group of alien mercenaries, with Freddy Prince Jnr’s Vega assuming the starring role. The style of animation is cheap and the dialogue features numerous action-movie clichés, but the set pieces at least are fairly entertaining.

Check it out the preview footage below…
