The horror shooter gets a second life with new content.
When Doom 3 BFG Edition was first announced we wondered exactly what Bethesda were playing at. After all, what’s the point of re-releasing a game which, at one point or another, the vast majority of gamers have already experienced?
The answer it seems is rather simple, id aren’t just re-releasing their sequel from 2004, they’re rebuilding it with remastered visuals, an all new campaign in addition to the original campaign, support for 3D and head-mounted displayers and 5.1 surround sound.
If that isn’t enough Bethesda are also packing in Doom and Doom 2 with their respective expansions to sweeten the deal. Think of it as collection of all the Doom experiences that actually matter.
Doom 3 BFG Edition will be released for £19.99 on PC and £29.99 on HD consoles this October.
It’s been a long enough time since we’ve played Doom 3 that we wouldn’t have too many complaints this refreshed version, especially with another id sequel on the horizon.
