Disney star to appear alongside Sonic & co.
Wreck-It Ralph, star of Walt Disney Animation Studios’s upcoming videogame-inspired comedy of the same name, will make a playable appearance in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.
The Disney star will bring with him a unique transforming vehicle to travel by land, air, and sea, as well as a signature move.
The news was announced at Comic-Con 2012 in San Diego this weekend.
Sega called the upcoming film hero “a great addition” to the game’s cast while the film’s director Rich Moore described it as “a dream come true”.
“Disney has created a unique film experience that will appeal to gamers of all ages, and our video game collaboration will give fans the opportunity to interact with their character on the small screen as well,” said chairman and chief content officer of Sega America, Masanao Maeda.
“The film pays homage to the video games I loved as a kid, including Sonic the Hedgehog in a special cameo, so being able to see Wreck-It Ralph in a real video game alongside Sonic and other iconic SEGA characters is unbelievably exciting for me and should be a treat for fans,” said Wreck-It Ralph director Rich Moore.
It has not been confirmed if Wreck-It Ralph will be available as a pre-order bonus, as downloadable content, or available on the disc.
Sega recently announced that Saturn hero NiGHTS, Sonic alter-ego Shadow and Shinobi’s Joe Musashi will appear in Transformed.
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will launch on almost everything on November 16th.
