A fine example of Dishonored's grounded yet audacious design.
Visual design director, Viktor Antonov walks us through the city of Dunwall’s artistic design.
Developer diaries tend to be aimed at the lowest common denominator, with plenty of explosions violence and scantily clad folk to maintain the viewers attention for a couple of minutes, but the latest trailer treatment of Dishonored shows none of that and instead focuses on the design decisions Arkane Studios made when they decided to develop the first person stealth-em-up.
Bethesda deserve great credit for having the faith to buy into the French outfit’s vision and judging from the lengthy developer diary, titled ‘Immersion’, that freedom has allowed Viktor Antonov and co. to produce an experience which looks like nothing that has ever been seen before.
Do yourself a favour, set aside ten minutes and watch this fantastically deep and comprehensive featurette below.
Budding environment artists will particularly enjoy the level of detail the trailer’s various speakers delve into why they designed the city of Dunwall the way they did.
Dishonored will be released for Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3 in Europe on October 11th.
