FIFA accounts for 80 percent of all entertainment revenue at launch.
EA Sports’s FIFA 13 has sold one million copies in its opening week securing the top spot on the UK charts this week.
Outselling its predecessor by 27 percent, FIFA 13 joins a handful of titles including Call of Duty: Black Ops, Modern Warfare 2, and Modern Warfare 3, which sold one million in their first weeks.
Its success saw it account for a whopping 80 percent of all entertainment software revenue for its launch week.
Former UK no.1 Borderlands 2 took the news well landing in second place while World of Warcraft expansion Mists of Panderia managed fourth place.
Ubisoft’s Rocksmith debuted at seventh in the chart, which launched with two SKUs – available as standalone software or with a guitar.
Both Dead or Alive 5 and the Angry Birds Trilogy failed to make it into the top 10 landing 11th and 16th respectively.
