P3Zine Game Of The Year Day 5

Published on December 25th, 2011

ULTIMATE GAME OF THE YEAR: CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 3

We can hear the haters now. A controversial choice perhaps, but MW3′s flawless execution and spectacular delivery provided one of the best FPS campaigns we’ve ever played, along with superb co-op and best-in-class multiplayer to boot. It’s linear, it’s noisy, and it’s familiar, but it’s also damn exciting. Guaranteed to make your jaw drop and keep you hooked until your thumbs seize up, Modern Warfare 3′s a worthy winner.

RUNNER-UP:

Probably the funniest game ever made, Valve’s fantastic first-person puzzler had us laughing off our long fall boots when it rolled around in April – and we’ve been going back to hone our times ever since. Stephen Merchant, lend your voice to more games, won’t you?

RUNNER-UP: THE ELDER SCROLLS V:

We found it almost impossible not to be sucked into Bethesda’s stupendous medieval-fantasy world earlier this month, which offered an adventure unlike anything we’ve ever seen before on our PlayStation 3. Crammed with things to see and do, Skyrim’s one of the year’s very best.
