BEST ACTION-ADVENTURE: BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY
Filled with more action than you can shake Catwoman’s whip at and an adventure so jammed full of content it’ll last you well into the New Year, Rocksteady’s superhero sequel was easy pickings as the genre’s best.

Taking the Resi 5 approach for its sequel to the nail-bitingly scary Dead Space, Visceral’s action-led Dead Space 2 nudged the series just outside the realms of survival horror and straight into the third-person shooter category. A stunning tale of one man’s fight against psychosis and spooky space creatures, Dead Space 2 pushed all the right buttons when it landed at the start of the year.

BEST FIGHTING GAME: ULTIMATE MARVEL VS CAPCOM 3
No matter what you might think of them, you can always rely on Capcom to deliver an awe-inspiring fighter. Building on the superb foundations of MvC3, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 brought together even more of our much-loved heroes and villains in a fighter even more accessible than Street Fighter. Superb!
