EA confirm that a new entry from DICE is coming – beta access available in Medal of Honor Warfighter.
Remember when the emergence of a Battlefield game was a massive event, not a bi-yearly occurrence? Yeah we do too, those days were cool…
EA has surprised the world by announcing not only that Battlefield 4 is in active development, but that all those who pre-order Medal of Honor Warfighter will be granted beta access to the sequel.
This kind of pre-order baiting isn’t new in the Medal of Honor series, those who purchased the last game were also given access to Battlefield 3′s beta, so this announcement isn’t a break from precedent.
Still we can’t help but think that it’s a little early for DICE to put out a numbered sequel in their multiplayer-oriented FPS series, especially as this announcement pegs its release to the tail-end of 2013. Not to mention the fact that Battlefield 3 expansions are still being prepared for release as we type.
Personally we’d prefer another spin-off along the lines of Battlefield 2142 or better yet another entry in the Bad Company franchise. We really miss those frag-happy folks.
If anything this announcement has stolen a bit of thunder from Medal of Honor Warfighter which looks very promising. Check out the latest multiplayer reveal trailer below:
