Football Superstar interview for the PC

Out in October is Football Superstars, a brand new footballing MMO which will be completely free to play. You'll create a player and carve out a career for him, from new player to superstar. It's a game of two halves, so to speak: you'll need to hone your football skills, but the game continues off the pitch too, with the chance to live the football dream lifestyle. In this issue, we've talked to creator Rik Alexander to find out more: find out more when you read our Football Superstar interview for the PC now!

Football Superstar interview for the PC
The guys at Monumental Games, under former Climax online supremo Rik Alexander, are creating a massively multiplayer football game. And they'll be giving it away for free. It's either utter madness, or pure genius…

Football superstars - what's it all about?
It's a free-to-play football game where you take the place of one player. You create one avatar and take him from grass roots to superstar status. Along the way you'll learn many skills, interact with many different clubs, and exist in a lifestyle way. It's your chance to be David Beckham, to own the bling and the cars. You can live the lifestyle and live the football dream.

So there are two distinct elements to the game – football action and lifestyle – are they very separate?
The game is about both and each revolves around the other. The halves tie-in together. We are creating a Utopian environment, an environment much like a town where the church is at the centre of things, only here a football stadium is at the centre. everything you think about in the lifestyle world – from getting new trainers and boots and a new suit – relates back to the game.
