Fans of X-Com: UFO Defence will find plenty to enjoy in new alien-threat strategy game UFO Extraterrestrials. The familiar storyline finds you on a newly colonised planet, which is under threat from extraterrestrial attackers. Part turn-based strategy game and part management sim, UFO Extraterrestrials has plenty to get your teeth into, whether you prefer the big-picture world management or chucking yourself straight into combat. So how successful is UFO Extraterrestrials as an homage to X-Com, and indeed as a game in its own right? Find out what we think in our UFO Extraterrestrials review for the PC now!

UFO Extraterrestrials review for the PC
When this one first rolled onto the desk, we’ll admit we were a little confused. “UFO Extraterrestrials, you say? That’s a heck of a typo. Shouldn’t it say X-Com: UFO Defence?” Set in the year 2025, an alien planet us earthlings have colonised finds itself under attack from a deadly alien foe. It’s up to you to set up a network of bases on the planet, intercepting and destroying enemy spacecraft as you detect them, before travelling to their crash site and wiping out the survivors. Sound familiar? As anyone who’s played the original X-Com will know, the gameplay is divided into two halves – a base management side, which is run from the world map, and a turn-based strategy part, which occurs whenever you send out troops to explore an alien crash site.
