Hellgate: London preview for the PC
Part RPG, part first person shooter, Hellgate: London finds us in a London of the not-too-distant future where a gate to Hell has opened up, filling the city with demons from below. You'll need to align yourself to one of the secretive societies that form the last line of human defence, and then throw yourself into the action. Hellgate: London won't be with us until September, but we've got a major first look preview, including video footage from the game, and we think it looks pretty exciting. Hellgate: London preview for the PC
There are two games for PC owners that are on everyone’s lips; BioShock
and Crysis. Yet Hellgate: London is a visually stunning and exciting RPGcum-
FPS, which could be every bit as worthy of your cash as the aforementioned
duo. Developed by the brains behind Diablo, Flagship Studios is
an experienced force to deal with in the RPG world.
Ok, so what’s the story?
Help, the year’s 2038 and London lies in ruins. A gate to Hell has opened in
England’s major city, and the inhabitants were quickly overwhelmed by the
demons that slew through. The remaining cockneys have banded together
in the undergrounds, forming factions to try to regain a foothold against
the demonic forces. It’s a fairly desperate situation: if they fail, humanity
faces extinction.
Welcome to Hellgate: London.
Taking on the role of one of the defenders of the Smoke, you can choose
from one of three factions to align with. The Templar are a secretive society
who specialise in mixing technology and artefacts to
create the ultimate in weapons and armours: which makes
them particularly talented at short range and melee
attacks. Next up are the Cabalists, a group of warlock-type
warriors who study science and the dark arts to create
devastating magical spells.
