Colin McRae: DiRT review – PC
It seems these days that we’re only happy if we’re shooting someone in the face with a rocket launcher. War sells, and we love it, be it be dropping bombs on battalions of Nazis or filling aliens with plasma holes, we just can’t get enough. In fact, nowadays, gaming is a tough affair for the squeamish. Sometimes, just sometimes, it’s nice to cut down on casual genocide for a while and invest a few hours in gaming’s less violent offerings, and what better way than to get behind the wheel of an 800bhp mechanical monster and innocently tear up the local countryside?
While dishing out copious amounts of rural pollution continues to be the standard fare, Codemasters’ latest collaboration with a certain Mr McRae takes the series in a new direction and expands on the previously Rally-centric titles. No longer are you limited to battling against the clock in your Subaru Impreza, with the welcome inclusion of head-to-head racing in the likes of Super Buggies or Big Rigs, theres more to Dirt than basic rallying.
