Runaway 2: The Dream of the Turtle review
Where would we be without cel-shaded graphics, eh? Without cel-shading, we couldn’t have had classics like Jet Set Radio. We couldn’t have numerous rubbish cartoon spin-offs. But we certainly couldn’t have had a game that’s as gorgeous to look at as Runaway 2. From the very beginning, the first thing you’ll notice about Runaway 2 is just how stunning it looks. With a level of visual pizazz that wouldn’t look out of place in a Disney movie, Runaway 2 combines cel-shaded 3D models, with pre-rendered cartoon backgrounds, giving the game a style of its own. Everything you come across looks simply phenomenal; from the jungle you start off in, to the secret underwater base, to the laid-back beach huts of the Hawaiian island, everything here has been drawn with a level of detail and visual flair that breathes life into everything it touches.
