A two-year-old Xbox port anyone? Or would you be interested in “an incredible story-driven gameplay experience with stunning high-resolution graphics and controls optimised for the PC gaming experience?” Jade Empire is both. While the first description is simply fact, the second is more subjective. Story-driven it certainly is, with an epic tale spanning generations of eastern mysticism, conveyed via swathes of stilted dialogue. Largely delivered in monotone American drawls, it doesn’t exactly conjure up the mysteries of The Orient, although thankfully much of the chat can be skipped in favour of speedreading. And while it initially appears to be gibberish, the rambling plot eventually sinks in almost by osmosis..
