Tiberium Wars is officially the third instalment of Command and Conquer - although there have of course been many spin offs along the way. The venerable Command & Conquer franchise rolls into its second decade with what is officially number three in the series. Of course, there have been numerous spin-offs over the years, but sticking a great big three on the box might pique the interest of those who have wondered what the fuss was about, as well as luring back a few lapsed devotees. Adhering to the core storyline of the vanilla C&C series, yet again the upstanding denizens of the Global Defence Initiative are battling the low-down scoundrels of The Brotherhood of Nod.

And if that means nothing to you, presumably you’ve yet to sample the delights of this most esteemed of series. Spotters will tell you otherwise, but the original Command & Conquer is the game that effectively pioneered the real time strategy genre, prompting the floodgates to pour forth a slew of imitators.
