The Sims 3 review for the PC
Ian McIan's first kiss was a beautiful
moment. He arrived at her door, fresh
from a visit to the catacombs, his skin
smeared with grime. His white
underwear – the only thing he was
wearing – spoke volumes about the man;
he pursued matters of the mind, not of
the body. He was pathetic, but she didn't
seem to mind. He chatted to the girl for
hours about computers. He insulted her
flatmate, he read her books. To avoid
passing out on the floor, he drank her
coffee. And then he kissed her, wrapping
his stinking arms around her and planting
his festering lips upon hers. His first kiss,
and it was beautiful. Then he asked her to
marry him. She refused, of course, and he
was humiliated. The next day, he died.
It's always easy and tempting to write
about a new Sims game in terms of the
features and tweaks it introduces. While
that's all well and good for the back of
the box, it's not the purpose of
continuing this line. Yes, clearly at least
some of its purpose is making enough
money to buy Belgium, but it's also
about making the ultimate game of
anecdotes. The more options and
possibilities there are in The Sims, the
more stories you have to tell.
