Assassins Creed review PC

Assassins Creed review PC

It was a huge hit on the consoles at the tail end of last year, and now PC gamers have their chance to get their hands on Assassin's Creed, the Crusades-set stealth-em-up that'll see you take on the role of a disgraced assassin trying to earn back his reputation. Assassin's Creed has raised lots of 'oohs' and 'aahs' for its acrobatics - you'll scale dizzying heights and take spectacular leaps and you'll increase in acrobatic skill as you progress through the game - and the PC version is no different. The PC game also showcases some new features that you won't find in the console versions - so is Assassin's Creed for the PC more than just a console port? Find out everything you need to know in our full review of Assassin's Creed for the PC in this issue of PCGZine.

Assassins Creed review for the PC

It's been five months now since Assassin's Creed launched itself off the console rooftops and it's only now landed in the PC haywain. That's a long time up in the air, so should we have given up the search, gone back to browsing the busy market stalls for something else to catch our eye, or is the enhanced PC version – now labelled ‘Director's Cut' - still worth hunting down?

The answer really depends on whether you've already played through the console version and if you have, you probably won't find enough bonus material here to make it worth a replay, but if you haven't, you'd be mad to miss this utterly thrilling and addictive PC adventure. Assassin's Creed is an open world game set in the medieval time of 1191 AD, within a Holy Land ravaged by the Third Crusade. As a member of the secretive cult of Assassins, you aren't directly aligned with either the Christians or the Muslims, but initially charged with removing key figures on either side. Your targets for assassination all reside within the cities of Acre, Jerusalem and Damascus, but you'll also return between missions to the Assassin stronghold of Masayaf for new instructions, and ride on horseback through the interlocking outlands of ‘The Kingdom' (which can now be skipped in the PC version once you've been to each city).
