Tomb Raider Underworld preview for the PCThe end of 2008 will see a welcome return for Lara Croft, in the forthcoming Tomb Raider Underworld. Underworld will find Lara in Mexico doing what she does best, tracking down missing artefacts with huge spiritual importance and fighting off her rivals for the prize. We've had a hands-on preview of the game this month and we like what we see so far, with big improvements to the gameplay and to the technology behind the game. And it's only really half-way there, so we expect great things of Tomb Raider Underworld when it hits the shelves later this year. Find out more and see shots from the game for yourself in our hands-on preview now! ![]() Tomb Raider Underworld preview for the PC The next instalment in the Tomb Raider adventures will head to Mayan Mexico (also visiting Australia, Easter Island, the Vatican and Mesopotamia), drawing on the ancient mythologies of the southern region to pit Lara Croft against the evil gods of the Underworld in an all-new mystery. Five days of the Mayan calendar have gone missing. We know what that feels like – Christmas and New Year are but a blur and we're still trying to piece together what happened from the empty bottles of Baileys, Advocat and Sloe Gin that unleashed the malevolent spirits Ha'gnovar and Indig Esti'on. The missing days represent a time of apocalypse that dissolves the barriers between the human and spiritual worlds, allowing the bad gods to walk the earth. Maybe it's best they stay down the back of the Mayan sofa for all eternity. But no doubt there's a rival time team involved who think they can turn the evil powers to their own ends and it's going to be down to Lara to save Mexico and probably the planet from the end of days.
