Viva Pinata review for the PC

Viva Pinata was a hit on the Xbox 360 a while back, and it's now available on the PC for a wider audience to get its hands on. At first glance, you'd be forgiven for thinking that it's, y'know, for kids, with it's bright graphics and imaginary world full of living, breathing, sweet-filled pinatas. But play for a while and you'll realise that it's a compelling enough challenge to keep all the family occupied, tending your garden and keeping the wild pinatas you attract happy. Viva Pinata review for the PC
With its bright, colourful characters, overly cutesy design, and animated TV show running alongside it, you could be forgiven for thinking Viva Piñata had been aimed at kids. Underneath its colourful, sugary surface, however, there lies a world of beatings, drugs and vice.

If your piñatas are starting to get rowdy, the game encourages you to beat them down with a shovel, spilling their sweet-filled guts across the land. If you're having trouble getting two piñatas to mate, all you need do is dose both of them up with a "romance" sweet, follow them back to their house, and watch as they do their "romance dance". We're sure we've never heard it called that before...

Okay, so we may be bending the truth a bit here, and Viva Piñata is certainly suitable for little Johnny to play, but our point is you'd be wrong judge this book by its cover, as Viva Piñata is a surprisingly deep, and enjoyable game.
