Talk about itchy trigger fingers. We've seen next to nothing new on Hell's Highway for some months, then publishers Ubisoft pop their heads over the parapet to announce a delay in release… HH has been hauled back to base some extra training before it's thrown into the crowded WWII theatre of engagement. Mind you, it's shaping up to be one hell of a soldier. The game follows the brave boys of the US 101st Airborne Division who aim to smash a beeline towards Hitler and bring the bloodiest conflict in history to a swift conclusion. You'll squeeze your bloated feet into the boots of Matt Baker and Joe Hartsock for Operation Market Garden, a mission to off the Nazis by Christmas 1944. Of course, the history books tell us the war didn't end in Europe until 1945 as Hitler sent waves of his finest troops to repel the Allies, making for some of the most intense – and therefore gamefriendly - battles of the bloodiest conflict in history.

The world of BIA: HH is unnervingly realistic. The remarkably physical environment responds to your every shot, no matter how wayward. Walls become scuffed and pocked as your bullets skid towards targets in mounted machine gun emplacements. Panels on vehicles will dent as you lay down support fire for pals legging it across open ground. And enemies will crumple in crimson heaps as you jackhammer rounds through flimsy fences.

The engagements you battle through are all real and the environments you tear up with your authentic weapons are faithful to the real settings. Eindhoven, for instance has been recreated from photos and records to look just as it did back in 1944.
