TimeShift review for the PC

We've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of TimeShift, tempted by the promise of flexible combat, spectacular battles and nifty time-manipulation abilities. So does TimeShift live up to expectations now that it's here? Well, the time-manipulation is a great feature of the game, and the battles make for solid and enjoyable play, but does it fulfil its considerable potential? TimeShift review for the PC
After all the promises that we'd be able to manipulate time during some visually impressive firefights, TimeShift has unfortunately failed to provide anywhere near the level of combat flexibility and originality that we were all hoping for. However, the game certainly shouldn't be dismissed, as there's just about enough quality here to warrant your attention. After using a time suit to travel to a dystopian alternate timeline in order to stop a fellow scientist from subjugating humanity, you find yourself fighting in the resistance in an attempt to restore freedom.

What follows is a set of solid if unspectacular battles against soldiers, robots and turrets, punctuated by a few puzzles, which take place within a bleak totalitarian world clearly inspired by Half-Life 2. Missions are scripted, with blocked pathways fortuitously removed by wayward shots, while weaponry is lacklustre, with the usual collection of machine-guns, sniper rifles, shotguns and pistols plus an excellent if overly powerful crossbow.
